Please join us on July 13th to celebrate Gord

Thank you for your patience as we have been working hard to finalize the details of the celebration of Gord's life.

Anyone who knew Gord would understand that he would not have wanted a sombre event to commemorate his 66 years; his fun-loving spirit would want a celebration. We have decided to hold this celebration during one of the most celebratory weeks in Calgary, Stampede week. Gord had a love of Stampede week born from the many memories created down at the grounds, which included meeting his wife Sheila.

We are holding this event on our acreage in De Winton (about 1 mile south of the Calgary city limit) on Saturday, July 13th. This will be an open house style event so that we can accommodate as many people as possible.  We are, however, scheduling the eulogy and a catered supper, so those who may have other events earlier in the day or later in the evening might still have the opportunity to participate in the formal portion of the event.

This is a family friendly event with plans for childcare and plenty to keep the kids busy so the grown ups can have some uninterrupted time to share in their memories of Gord.

As a way to preserve Gord's legacy, we also ask that you consider writing down some of your favourite memories of Gord so we may collect and compile them for anyone in Gord's family who might want a copy. After the eulogy we will also be "opening the mic" to anyone who wants to read theirs aloud (or have it read). You can also choose to simply submit it to us if you prefer to have your thoughts remain private.
You can also visit the following website to leave your comments to the family or memories of Gord in the online guest book set up for obituaries posted in the Calgary Herald. It will remain online permanently.

  2. An imposing figure of a man, with the heart and soul of an unspoiled youth. What a pleasure to have spent the little time I was afforded with this man, my friend, Gord. You are missed, but fondly remembered. See you next time around, Aloha!

  3. Gord: my very special friend, I will miss your shenanigans, laughter, and cocktails! Sugar beach will not be the same without you. I will cherish my visits to Sylvan Lake and am so very grateful to have spent time with you in your last days. Richard and I will do our best to stay close to Sheila in every way we can.

  4. I really enjoyed Gordon's company when he paddled with the Maui Canoe Club. So friendly, so outgoing, he helped make the club what it is today - a friendly, welcoming group. We will all miss him very much.
    Aloha Gord!

  5. When I was at Spartan Controls, I was on a safety committee of which Gord was chairman. I used to loathe meetings because they were never under control, went too long, and usually accomplished nothing. But not if Gord Bosch was the chairman. He didn't stand for any crap and would give you your say, but be succinct and don't belay the point. "You have 2 minutes-Go!" I loved his meetings because we actually accomplished stuff. He was a funny guy too, making the meetings enjoyable. I met him in transit once in Maui, in the airport. He recognized me right away and came over to meet my wife and shake my hand. He was in the top 5 of my favourite Spartans, easy to get along with. Only the good die young. Bye Gord.
